Timeless Fireworks

Set within the First Class Lounge, this floral installation was conceived as a visual pause within a space defined by movement, travel, and global rhythm. Positioned beneath a sequence of world clocks, the composition responds directly to its architectural setting, balancing formality with organic expression. The brief called for a design that could maintain its presence across changing times of day and international audiences, while remaining disciplined and composed. Rather than relying on overt symbolism, the installation focuses on structure, material contrast, and seasonal transition, creating a focal point that feels grounded and quietly expressive within a premium hospitality environment.

The concept draws on the idea of a moment suspended in time. The upward, branching movement suggests an explosive rhythm, similar to a firework held at its peak, while remaining anchored through a clear vertical axis. This tension between expansion and control allows the arrangement to feel dynamic without becoming theatrical. Seasonal transition informed the narrative, with winter’s depth and richness present but softened by lighter tones and emerging textures that suggest renewal. The result is a measured balance between contrast and continuity, reflecting the lounge’s role as a place between departures and arrivals.

The design is structured around strong vertical lines formed by natural branches, establishing height and layered depth. Burgundy and pink cymbidium orchids introduce a velvety surface quality, providing visual weight and softness against the linear framework. Champagne-dyed grevillea and copper-toned magnolia foliage add warmth and subtle reflectivity, catching ambient light without dominating the composition. Colour transitions are controlled and deliberate, moving from deeper tones at the core toward lighter elements at the periphery. The construction prioritises stability, proportion, and long-term visual clarity, ensuring the installation reads consistently from multiple viewing angles.
