The Royal Ornament
- by Kelvin Garcia

At the crossroads of the world’s time zones, where journeys overlap and time briefly slows, The Royal Ornament emerges as a refined celebration of seasonal elegance within the First Class Lounge. Conceived as a sculptural interpretation of the classic Christmas bauble, the installation transforms a familiar festive symbol into a monumental expression of travel, craftsmanship, and contemporary luxury.

The central composition reimagines the ornament as a botanical jewel. Intricately woven Salix branches form an airy, lace-like structure that evokes both delicacy and strength, creating a protective framework around a vibrant floral core. Within this structure, Amaryllis blooms unfold with architectural presence, their bold red tones complemented by clusters of Red Ilex berries. Together, these elements embody warmth, vitality, and the welcoming spirit associated with the season, while reflecting the cosmopolitan energy of Dubai as a global crossroads.

Each sphere is crowned with a refined gold cap, elevating the natural materials into an object reminiscent of fine jewelry. This golden accent bridges botanical artistry with the understated opulence of the lounge interior, allowing the installation to resonate seamlessly with its surroundings. The result is a composition that balances festive emotion with timeless sophistication, offering guests a visual moment of wonder without excess.

Extending the narrative beyond the main installation, The Royal Ornament is echoed through curated coffee table arrangements placed throughout the lounge. These intimate pieces translate the grandeur of the sculptural spheres into a more personal scale, designed to accompany moments of rest and quiet reflection. Featuring the same seasonal palette of Amaryllis, textured foliage, and subtle decorative accents, the coffee table arrangements bring continuity to the overall experience while softening it for close-up appreciation.

Together, the main installation and its accompanying arrangements create a cohesive seasonal environment that celebrates both movement and stillness. The Royal Ornament does not simply decorate the space; it enriches the journey, offering First Class guests a refined seasonal pause—where tradition, travel, and contemporary floral art converge in harmony.
