The Vegetal Carat
- by Al Jowder Flowers

A Dialogue Between Nature and Design
The Vegetal Carat draws inspiration from the precision of a diamond’s cut — every petal, stem, and structure shaped with intent. Using Cornus and Ilex, the design achieves architectural clarity, while the warm hues of Ilex berries radiate a natural opulence that celebrates autumn and light.

The Art of the Facet
Each geometric form is like a crystal of nature — sharp yet fluid, disciplined yet organic. The interplay between rigid line and soft botanical material represents the dialogue between craftsmanship and creativity, nature and human artistry.

The Central Jewel
Standing tall as the centerpiece, the main installation captures the eye with its faceted symmetry. The amber-orange Ilex berries at its heart shine like gemstones, framed by the golden-brown tones of Cornus structures that mimic the brilliance of a cut diamond.

Coffee Table Versions – The Small Gems
Designed to echo the main sculpture’s geometry, the Coffee Table Arrangements distill its concept into a smaller, tactile form.
Each miniature jewel is composed of Cornus grasses and small branches of Ilex, resting delicately on a base of Eryngium — a refined botanical that adds a touch of silvery texture.
These smaller versions are the “table jewels” of the composition — intimate reflections of the larger structure’s grandeur, blending luxury with tranquility in every petal and curve.
